The American music show and occasional stand Up comedy show 'The Midnight Special' from the 70's and early 80's have launched a youtube channel.

No idea if they will upload everything, but its not a bad first batch, Fleetwood Mac. David Bowie, Ike and Tina Turner, Linda Ronstadt, Rod Stewart, Bee Gees. Richard Priory, Steve Martin, George Carlin. and more importantly all perform live.

Has one of my favourite live performances, Fleetwood Mac doing Rhiannon.

Many of these already exist on youtube as a lot has been realsed on DVD in the past, but nice to have them in the one place.

This has to be up there. The bands were given a strict 4 minute slot, so many had to play shortened versions of their song. Focus decided that their way round it was to play the, almost 7 minute, Hocus Pocus twice as fast!! Rdiculously good musicians!

They are still good as well even without Jan. I'm off to see them at Gateshead Sage next month.

...Pierre is still a monster on the drums, amazing energy even now well into his 70's

The Rhiannon one is really a stand out because it's about the only time I ever saw her doing an 'extended' version of the song and in the process 'letting it rip' so to speak, with her then Farrah Fawcett curls (hair) of the period.

I've followed the Mac since their first incarnation in the 60s led by Greenie and bought the 'dustbin' LP. When I heard Nicks and Buckingham had joined at the end of 1974 I was intrigued how long this line up would last. Not disappointed. Buckingham was certainly a brilliant guitarist and Nicks a phenomenal singer.

I first watched them in Santa Barbara in 76 and my favourite on that first LP, 'I'm So Afraid'. Always loved this track and it's just great you can go to youtube and find the recording still there. He's the same age as me, and I always thought at 26 yrs of age, beard and long hair (like many of us back in the day then) this surely had to be him at the top of his game.
I'd always rated this was the best rendition live of the song (probably the least-played track by many FM fans on that first LP).

Then fast forward 30 yrs from that first album release, a friend in the US shows me a vid of their then concert in Boston I had not seen, Lindsey doing the same song. Long gone his beard and flowing locks like many of us that age, but bloody hell, how much I wished I could have been in that front row in place of the girl with blonde hair paying homage to him. Just over 10 mins, so almost twice as long.

Just amazing guitar playing, and I've seen a few in my time. At one point it almost looks like Lindsey has been electrocuted! (8.5 mins in approx).
Incredible is the only word for his performance that day. If you've never seen it, here you go... prepare to be amazed.
