Noticed this from yesterday

https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-644295...

Never heard of this Yung Gravy bloke, but looking at his plays on Spotify he has probably made more money from this rip off than what they made on the originals lol!

I've been watching the SAW series on C5 last week and this week, well worth a watch to remember how cheesey it was yet how it will always keep it's head above water (man).

I'm only 40 so got the tale end of it all so no doubt I'll get pelters from the boomers on here.

Listening to the track it sounds like Rick is unhappy about being sampled, though the composition element of the song was cleared with SAW.

Songs a bit of a joke since the rick roll meme, so may be he just wants some dollars.

I can't believe people listen to songs like that. I wish I hadn't looked.

I read it that he wasn't sampled, a voice impersonator was used to sound like him.

Which I understand is perfectly legal - its how some musicians in the rave era cleared samples for less money - Bizarre INC recruited the lady from M People to 'impersonate' (I think) Jocelyn Brown for a couple of their records - instead of clearing the original samples. Ker-ching!

(They still had to pay Patrick Cowley as the writer though)

Also that rapper...

Where do these people get a multi million dollar valuation from?

I can understand him being miffed and wanting some compensation, but that figure is nuts.

Where is his "loss"?

We are already way past this !
We’ve had songs being created with DeepFake tech making up new lyrics and recordings by the original artist.
Here’s a rather NSFW Eminem track that did the rounds a couple of years ago.
Eminem had nothing to do with it
