PHers Top 50 Bands Of All Time
Discussion
So following on from the (questionable) Top 50 rock bands of all time list ( https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...), I'm proposing that we have a PHers Top 50 bands of All Time list.
Guidance, as I see it, as follows:
So go fill yer boots one and all
Guidance, as I see it, as follows:
- Post one response,in this thread, listing a maximum of your top 10 bands
- To keep it simple, there's no order of preference, so your first and last bands listed will be treated equally
- Any kind of music goes, from any era and genre; they don't need to be 'Rock', even in the vaguest sense (ref the thread linked above)
- Solo artists should be considered separately to their respective band (in that Ozzy is Ozzy, Dio is Dio and Black Sabbath are Black Sabbath)
- Any more than 10, or multiple posts will be ignored; so 10 or less bands only please
- If you subsequently edit your post to change a band, it's probable that I'll miss your revision
So go fill yer boots one and all
Steely Dan
Earth Wind & Fire
The Eagles
Fleetwood Mac
Just to add most of the bands I like at a certain point mostly the 70s and early 80s, I know it sounds harsh but most of the bands mentioned including my own choices who are still around are past their best regarding live performances and studio recordings.

Mine will offset what I suspect will be an outcome at the heavier end of the scale:
Beatles
Stones
Who
Yes
Floyd
Beach Boys
Cardiacs
Grateful Dead
Led Zeppelin
Sabbath
These I think are the "best". Some I dont like (Sabbath) or own (Dead) but I think they were all among the most influential. Peak band time was 70s. No really influential bands have emerged since then IMO. Cardiacs are hardly known but should be. I have stuck to 10 and it was a toss up between Deep Purple and Black Sabbath for the 10th spot.
