I just heard Jilted John's ..Gordon is a moron, which got me thinking would that be accepted if it was just released in todays
PC society, quite a few dodgy words in that one maybe?, slut, slag, bh, puff etc..

So what other tracks got away with risque lyrics back in the day that would now be considered offensive?.

Ah - it's nearly that time of year again when some people air their offence at The Pogues, Fairytale of New York.

One in a Million by GnR

No way Jose!....

"Guess I needed some time to get away
I needed some peace of mind, some peace of mind that'll stay
So I thumbed it down to 6th in L.A
Maybe a Greyhound could be my way

Police and s, that's right, get out of my way
Don't need to buy none of your gold chains today
Now, don't need no bracelets clamped in front of my back
Just need my ticket, 'til then, won't you cut me some slack

[Chorus]
You're one in a million, yeah, that's what you are
You're one in a million, babe, you're a shooting star
Maybe someday we'll see you before you make us cry
You know we tried to reach you but you were much too high
Much too high, much too high, much too high

[Verse 2]
Immigrants and faggots, they make no sense to me
They come to our country and think they'll do as they please
Like start some mini Iran or spread some fking disease
They talk so many God damn ways, it's all Greek to me
Well, some say I'm lazy and others say that's just me
Some say I'm crazy, I guess I'll always be
But it's been such a long time since I knew right from wrong
It's all the means to and end, I, I keep it moving along
Hey, hey, hey, yeah"

"Well you're only fifteen, but you look good" - a bit tame, but I'm not sure it would be written now. (Depeche Mode, can't remember the track).

Apparently there's a new version of "Baby it's cold outside" being released, with a really "right-on" line forcefully inserted somewhere. (oo-er).

Beatles - "You were just 17, if you know what I mean..."

My Sharona (The Knack) - "Never gonna stop, give it up, such a dirty mind I always get it up, for the touch of the younger kind".

It's a question of time.

I wonder if they'd get away with Black celebration;
'To celebrate the fact,
that we've seen the back
of another black

Day.

Always made me wonder, although I don't think it has any racist overtones whatsoever.

These kind of songs are suggestive and you can take them either way:

You make me tremble when your hand moves lower
You taste a little then you swallow slower
Nature has a way of yielding treasure
Pleasure made for you, oh
I wanna get your love all ready for the sweet sensation
Instant radiation
You let me hold you for the first explosion
We get a picture of our love in motion
My arms will cover, my lips will smother you
With no more left to say
We talk about love, love, love

Interestingly when Steps covered it they missed those verses out.

I always thought there was a dodgy line in "Do the Strand" but upon searching the the lyrics it seems that was another mis-heard line!

I've always wondered if that's about grooming, never looked it up though.
