Another "Find me a Song"

I'm currently being earwormed by a very old song that I can't place.

It has a constant refrain running through it which is "fkd it up, he fkd it up", and there's a line which is something like "he was hoping he'd be playing but he never thought of winning the game".

Mostly sung by a man, with backing singers doing the refrain line.

The sound (in my head) is sort of Jona Lewie-ish, but I'm not sure it's him.

I haven’t listened yet but that’s quite probably it - one to add to the “misheard lyrics” list (and then some, given what I thought it was )
