Best place to find gigs advertised?

I'm thinking more rock-based though it could apply to any genre. Where do you find out a good listing of forthcoming gigs?

If you know who you want to see or where Facebook can be quite good

Lemonrock is good for local bands,and twitter - follow your fave venues for up to date news.

I use the app 'Songkick'. It has various ways to add artists to your list of those you'd like notifying of gig announcements, but it's simplest if you allow it to scan music on your device or stuff you listen to on a streaming service.

You can manually add any other artist you like too and often purchase tickets through the app.

Songkick is really good if you want to track particular bands. With a recent update it is better at recommending similar bands you don't already track, but it can be a bit left field sometimes.
