Would there be an interest in a wide-ranging thread about these beautiful instruments; whether it's showing off your kits or discussing things related to playing?

As a long term Yamaha player I'll begin with a couple of my kits....









Anything drum related is welcome!

Just bought myself a Roland 11kv electric kit, hopefully that wont get me run out of here!

Set the stand up, put the pads and cymbals on just needs wiring up so still waiting to play it!

A mate of a mate plays and gave me some drumsticks which the shop were very impressed with so I guess they're good and probably way better than either me or the kit, vic firth japanese oak sticks.

Simple Shaw 5a for me, they’re light enough to be nimble but still make enough noise.

I love playing the drums. Next gigs a wedding - mine! We’ve done the bass players and the singers so they’d be a bit miffed if I went and booked someone else...

Just managed to wire it all up, played it for about 50 minutes of which it was mainly fiddling with the position of everything to get comfortable (picutre is of the first and not final position dont worry). So far and very aware i have little to nothing to judge it against im happy. Seems a sensitive kit so easy to change volume/pitch by hitting harder or softer and easy to initially at least set up. On a tiled floor though it is not all that quiet on the kick drum.

It will be going overseas shortly so will need to go back in the box, or should i just get a second one??

I've used him forever and he still gets better. If there is a mistake, it's in my score.

I have to get back into full time playing this year, and that of course means new equipment. I might look away from Yamaha, but have no interest in DW (pedals aside) so this should be fun. Might have a look at some Mapex gear - only problem is having to buy a shell pack and then add the extra drums. My kits are always the same 20" possibly 22", 8", 10", 12", 14", 16" and normally a 13" snare. Cymbals will invariably be Paiste for Hi Hats and Rides and Zildjian for accent cymbals.

O/T A band I was in used to regularly play there in the 1980s, ('Cayenne' for anyone that goes back that far), and we used the bar and band room downstairs. The smell down there was SO bad that we bought a plastic canary and lay it dead in a cage, hung in the band room. It stayed there for years (and for all I know still does).
