Advice please:Technical substitute for keyboard player?

My 14yr old son is in a band.
Electric Guitar, Drums, Keyboard and Female lead singer.

The keyboard player is often unavailable when the others want to practice.

Can anyone suggest some technology (record & replay, backing tracks etc standalone kit or s/w running on laptop I guess) that they could use, so they could play without the keyboard player or keyboard?

They have a couple of amplifier speakers that it could possibly plug into.

I am not familiar with Music equip, so please answer to complete newby. Just need names of packages, kit etc that my son can then google further.

The only real solution is to get another keyboard player to stand in (or sack the unavailable one).

Tech solutions like backing MIDI/MP3s are an awful idea for a young band.

(Or any band, really. Just about justifiable for solo buskers. IMHO, 2c, etc)

It's going to be super hard to do unless they're playing with click tracks and are super super tight. You can do some crazy stuff with ableton live but as the above poster said it's probably terrible for a young band.
