Buying Bulk Vinyl LPs

I've seen someone that has around 5000 LP records to sell, might be more (on pallets so imagine a liquidation or something). They're pretty local to me. He's hoping to sell for £1 a record, although as a job lot this number would reduce a lot (he's already at £1000 the lot).

I know that at least one 'record collector' has been through 4 of the pallets (there are 6 total) although he wants to go back and go through them again (and the other pallets). Have to imagine anything of true value was removed even before it landed where it is now.

I know nothing about this kind of thing, but am wired in such way that taking a punt on stuff makes me tick. Just don't want to be left with pallets of expensive rubbish (wouldn't be the first time!).

Anyone know anything about such things?

Very little demand unless they were small production runs or rare artists/record labels. Too much supply of standard pop/rock artists and too little demand.
