Drummers! 9 year-old-girl rivals Neil Peart / Lars Ulrich...
Discussion
Well, not quite yet - but she might in a few years time!
Watch this video of a little Mexican girl kicking ass on drums - complete with double-bass pedal action!
I don't have kids of my own, but when I do - I'd like this one please!
In my opinion, nothing short of amaze-balls...bless her!

Not sure I'd put her on Lars Ulrich's level, but she is good for a 9 year old. Her rolls are a bit stiff, but not bad for someone who can barely reach around the kit.
And while we're at it talking about rivalling these guys, as good a job as Lars has done for Metallica, he's not even on the same planet of ability as Neil Peart.

Heheh - lol @ your post! I DID say 'well not quite...' and my comments were meant a bit tongue in cheek. And while we're at it talking about rivalling these guys, as good a job as Lars has done for Metallica, he's not even on the same planet of ability as Neil Peart.
As a musician myself, of course I could pick her performance to bits and cite stiff / badly-phrased rolls and fills....but she's bloody nine years old, right??!!

It is what it is - a teeny little thing kicking it on a full-size kit. The most fun part of it for me was watching this little kids body bouncing around looking lost behind the kit, with equally tiny bare feet jumping up and down on the double pedals - all looking like a monstrous flurry - but the sound entering my ears didn't kind of match what I was seeing sort of thing??? If that makes sense!
I think she's pretty amazing, anyway.
And yeah, going a bit O/T with you - of course, I agree about your Neil / Lars statement. Neil is clearly one of our living percussion legends - the likes of which we are privileged and lucky to see in our lifetimes, and probably somewhat incomparable to many others. I could listen to many of his Rush tracks time and time again, let alone his solo's - and hear / see something new every time.
Probably a bad on my part to put Lars' name in the same sentence - the only thing they both have in common is a drum kit!
However, for every perfectly-arranged, accurate and precisely-executed Neil Peart sound - I am equally stimulated by (in context) some of Lars' interpretations and expressions that he is also fairly unique for (within his sphere of music and peers) when he really gets going behind some of Metallica's better tracks.
As you say, you can't and shouldn't really compare them.
Funnily enough, whilst posting, my iTunes, which is playing in the background, has given me:
Rush - Tom Sawyer. Delightful Neil Peart aural pleasure at it's best - somehow underpinning the song, but also adding atmosphere, depth, additional percussion sounds tat one might not expect - and an almost eerie, strange melody from a set of instruments that are not designed to create a melody! Awesome.
Then I had Metallica's 'Hero of the Day.' Not a 'classic' showcase for Lars by any means - but still illustrating, in an honest way, his ability to not only support but beautifully compliment the band's sound and arrangement - whilst still managing to be his own, individual soundscape - by means of his happiness to re-inforce most of the emphasis of the melody and rhythm of the guitars, whilst at the same time throwing us a decent helping of his off-beat fills and crashes that the vast majority of rock drummers are either too scared / too un-accomplished to contemplate or brazenly get away with.
Er, I hope you kinda get my drift?!

Yes, Lars has never been that fantastic in a technical sense, but his passion is undeniable, as are his wrists of steel. He really f
king batters that kit! Neil on the other hand is, I believe the finest drummer of the modern age.
This girl is also very good. If she were an adult, we'd say she was strictly average, but for a kid she is doing very well. It's always encouraging to see kids actually playing instruments, as opposed to just listening to crap music made solely on computers with autotune!

Lars jesting aside, she does seem very good.
