I don't think this has been discussed here yet, so I thought I'd mention an album I've been listening to for the last week or so almost non-stop.
Steve Hackett - Genesis Revisted II
Former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett has released a second in his (very) occasional series revisiting Genesis songs from their classic prog phase (as opposed to their more commercially succesful pop phase), with modern (and not so modern) tech and a wealth of guest stars to help out along the way.
For someone like me who is not so aware of that period it is fantastic hearing these songs brought back to life.
I thought I would highlight one particular track - The Lamia, sung excellently by Nik Kershaw. It has the most beautiful guitar solo played by Steve & Steve Rothery of Marillion taking turns. See the link below from 5.50 minutes.

Blimey, I am getting old
In the early seventies I had most of the genesis albums, I enjoyed most of the early stuff because to me they were never meant to be a 'Pop group' but more of a concept group, A better line up with Gabriel in my opinion.
I always regarded them as talented musicians, Steve Hackett is indeed a very talented guitarist.

I discovered at the weekend that Hackett's touring soon but it's sold out near me, rats.

I still have all the Genesis albums from Trespass -> Trick of the Tail and listen to them regularly. Selling England & The Lamb are probably my favourites. Makes a change after all that death dubstep

I do like Hackett's work, especially in Genesis.

Isn't he credited with 'inventing' two-handed tapping I'm thinking the opening to The Return of the Giant Hogweed.

It was done before him but it's possibly the first use of it in a Rock track.

Uses it in the solo in The Musical Box as well doesn't he?

As far as Genesis Revisited 2 goes I have listened to it a lot the past few weeks. Suppers Ready is quite good although Mikael Akerfeldt's vocals don't really suit his parts. Can-Utility and The Coastliners with Steven Wilson is pretty good as well.
