Why don't I like MUSE?

to be reminded that I just don't like MUSE even though I think I probably should and would quite like to like them.

Anyone else have this problem?

I'm a big Radio Head fan boy, I like all that MUSE are derivitave of, I like that genre of music. I just struggle to like MUSE.

I think they played their new single, they did some old numbers as well, but I don't really know because I don't like them.

I may be entirely wrong, but I find them only very superficially derivative of/similar to Radiohead. The comparison is almost entirely down to the singer's voice, in my opinion.

I like much of the output of both bands, but wouldn't really consider myself a big fan of either so perhaps I've missed some other obvious similarities.

He's a good bloke and I like a couple of the early tracks but most of them merge into a screamy guitary dirge.
But then why would you have to like something..

I went to see them for the first time live at the LG Arena on Tuesday.

Not a huge fan of their music, just can't get into some of the tracks but the
girlfriends a massive fan, seen 'em loads & everyone says 'Must see 'em live' so thought I'd check them out.

Before the gig, I must say, not much of a fan, but after........ much the same

Don't get me wrong, some great visuals, but the atmosphere seemed a bit, er, flat......

Never seen people standing at a gig be so statuesque before. Even the better half was a bit disappointed as she wanted me to see them 'at their best' so to speak.

Glad I saw them, but that'll probably be the first and last for me, although I am reliably told they have been much much better at previous gigs.

Weird post,do you watch tv programmes you don't like?
Why post about who you don't like ? It's pointless , each to their own in music ,no wrong or rights, listen to what you like and don't listen to stuff you don't

I'm surprised by that, I've seen them 3 times and even in huge stadiums the atmosphere has been fantastic and the show has been top drawer.

So was my better half! She really is a massive fan, saying how great they were and how everyone would be buzzing when it was over. We walked back to the car with everyone and she commented on how flat it seemed, same as the stadium. As I say, I have no comparison to make, but like you're saying, she's seen then many a time and it has been awesome. Not so this time in her opinion.

I enjoyed the show, but apart from a couple of very well know songs, there really wasn't any buzz going around. The folks standing in the seating area had more life in them then the ones on the floor. It was noticeable to both of us. Very strange.

I agree, I saw them at Wembley a couple of years ago and they were amazing. When knights of cydonia was played at the end China must have felt everyone jumping up and down in time!

Had this discussion the other day with a mate who likes most of the same stuff i do, but he likes muse and i cant stand them.

For me, it comes down to the vocals. Theyre too similar to radiohead to be original or idiosyncratic, and for the type of music they just sound too weak.

I'm with the OP here. Muse make the kind of music I would generally like, it has most of the right building blocks, and Absolution was a fantastic album, to my ears.

However, I don't really enjoy his voice all that much, it seemed to fit OK in Absolution but it doesn't work for me in the other albums I have heard. Then there are the numerous references to astronomy. I do find the universe fascinating but it's not often an exciting subject for a song, so by Black Holes I was getting bored of the lyrics.

So that's why I feel like I should like Muse but I just really don't. It's because Absolution completely blew me away but I just don't get on with any of the other albums, and I really would like them to blow me away again.
