Music heard during the Olympic opening

There was quite a lot of mixed music styles being played during the opening and as its early and brain is not awake they were some tracks from:

If someone had told me in the summer of 77 that in 2012 the Sex Pistols "God Save The Queen" would be featured in the opening ceremony of the London Olympics, covered by the BBC and attended by the Queen, I'd have choked on my Spangles.

Absolutely fantastic. The Sex Pistols are the ultimate quintessentially British band, makes me proud to be a Londoner.

Anyone got any idea about the music that was playing when steve redgrave gave the torch to the 7 young athletes and they then ran round passing it between them?

I think there was a kids choir singing, but I think someone else was too, doing the main vocals, the camera was on them, but not for very long. I thought for a moment it was Elly Jackson, but couldn't really tell as the microphone was in the way.

Just watched it on iplayer, and it's not elly jackson, , now I can hear it properly I think it's a bloke.

At the end when the various nations were entering the statium I heard a number of U2 songs, think it was around the time Sweden came out.

Thought they would have only used tracks from GB artists?

Yup, right at the start. I loved that sequence of the river thames, from it's source. I've always fancied a drive out to Gloucestershire to see the source of the Thames, but someone told me it was in someone's back garden. Is it really as per the sequence, marked with an engraved stone tablet? Anyone know? Where is it exactly?
