Morning People. Me and 3 other lads went to see Jethro Tull at the Colston Hall, Bristol, last night. Now not really knowing an awful lot about them I was a bit unsure as to whether it was going to be worth the £38 for a ticket.
A great surprise, it was excellent. First half was the Thick as a Brick album followed with a second half of Thick as a Brick II. Good interaction with the audience via a screen showing clips of Anderson "at home" in St Cleve etc.
A line up of 6 including Anderson were excellent.

Bloody Hell, I had no idea they were still working.
I saw them in 77 I think on the Heavy Horses tour when John Glasscock was still around, in fact the first show was cancelled because they claimed he'd straind his thumb, later revealed it was his drink problem.
Got to say at that time I was going to see bands every week, and the Tull concert was one of the stand out best I ever went to.
'Bursting Out' the live album is a good cross section and worth a listen.

I saw them on the 'Songs from the wood' tour in the late 70's,then much more recently a couple of years ago.They were quite forgettable unfortunately.I know Anderson's had ops on his throat but it's nowhere near what it once was,poor chap.Still, he's making millions from his fish!
Funny you mention Anderson's throat, he sang loads but he also had a younger chap on stage who took on a load of the singing duties, and did it really well it has to be said.I also didn't know, he was of a privilaged childhood (wealthy Parents I think?). They did show a video of him in character wandering around a nice estate with pond, fields, stately home, we wondered at the time if this was actually his place?

I'm off to see him on wednesday, it is billed as an Ian Anderson tour not Tull, although only he and Martin Barre are the only originals anyway. this'll be the 3rd time in 5 years for me. always entertaining and thoroughly looking forward to it.

well i thought it was ruddy marvelous, i though the use of the other vocalist worked quite well as Ian's voice isn't what it used to be, and due to his surgery can't hit the high notes anymore, plus the album is musically very challenging and as he's in his mid 60's it was probably quite nice to relinquish the vocal duties. the second half was good aswell, i'm quite enjoying TAAB2.
