How heavy is your les paul (or copy)?

Just wondering as my burny feels a lot heavier than my sons epiphone.

The epi is 9lb
Burny is 9lb8

Just wondered what a real one weighs..

Depends. Newer ones I.e. certain models from the 1980's on, are chambered to save weight. All I know is mine hurts my shoulder after about twenty minutes.

What about hold it, weigh yourself. Put it down, weigh yourself again, subtract the difference?

Internet search says 9lbs is towards the heavy end.

I used the bathroom scales (with a towel to protect the guitar). Stood it upright and used a hand to balance it..

Mate of mine had a Gold Top Les Paul and it was bloody heavy.

My '76 Goldtop Les Paul Deluxe weighs a smidge under 5kg/11pounds. Playing it is part of my daily exercise regime!

Mine's an Epi so I predict it will be 9lb. It's about 8 thousand times heavier than my Squire.

As the earlier poster said, a lot of later models are hollowed out a bit to make them lighter. I tried a few out just before Xmas and the weight difference was very noticeable.

Dont know about your preferences, but the heavier the better for me. If i am spending hundreds of pounds on a guitar, i want lots of woood please! Heavy guitars feel better, and I am convinced they sound better too.

Well, you keep convincing yourself that if it works.

I had an Epiphone Les Paul, it felt like a boat anchor is easily the least ergonomic guitar I've ever owned.

I'm selling my LP. Too heavy for me & 20 years of strats has made me too used to flat bridge guitars.

Difficult to tell with only bathroom scales, but I reckon it's about 11 lbs.

That's a Washburn WP-50. Sounds gorgeous.
