Ray Manzarek on keys.

Roger Waters should definitely be there too.

I think Rick would tone it down for the honour of playing with Pink Floyd. He's a massive name himself but I think he would respect the music.

Roger Waters should be there IF the rest are happy with him or it will not work. The only times I have seen them, Roger Waters was not there and the performance was superb.

As for keyboards, not a clue. Again, someone that fits the style.

First things first......Pointedstarman......you utter utter utter bd!!!! You nearly gave me a heart attack when I saw the title of your post. Don't do that to me on a Sunday biggrin

If it were to happen I'd think the most likely candidate is Jon Carin. He played with Waters on the "In the Flesh" tour, Joined Gilmour on "Live in Gdansk", also was on the "Division Bell" tour. He's also done shedloads of other stuff with both camps, so would seem the logical choice.

I doubt there is anyone better "qualified" smile

It won't ever happen, they've said they'll never perform as a band again as a tribute to Rick Wright.

Sorry about that - was meant to be a question rather than statement of fact but could see how on first glance..hehe

Regarding them not touring again - I'd heard that too but Rick Wright always wanted the band to do another tour whereas DG & NM were never that bothered from what I could tell so how much that RW thing is genuine and how much its an easy excuse is anyones guess.

What's always hacks me off though is the lack of a real farewell tour so everyone has one last chance to see them. IMO they should remember who paid for the records & tickets that gave them what they now have. PF aren't the only band guilty of this but are possibly one of the worse offenders. NB I don't think a one of few song set at the end of a charity gig qualifies as a farewell gig.

Only problem with a farewell tour, all the tickets will go in a flash only to reappear at inflated prices. Pink may not intend that but the ticket sellers will.

Do you really think one-fingered Farfisa playing would fit Floyd's back catalogue?

I was lucky enough to see them play at Earls Court in 1995/1996 I think, on the Pulse tour.
I guess Dave Gilmour would put on a good show & it would sound & look like Pink Floyd, but in effect it wouldn't be the real band. So maybe best left to history...

I can't see any merit in it unless they were recording new material. Roger Waters was a great writer but as a musician, he is pretty poor. David Gilmour has written some good stuff with the Division Bell and On an Island so they would probably clash a lot more as artists than they did in the old days. I wasn't impressed with the Live 8 performance as I thought they sounded better with Guy Pratt.

If Floyd toured with the surviving members, the touring band would have to be:

David Gilmour - Guitar
Roger Waters - vocals and a bit of bass and acoustic guitar
Nick Mason - drums

John Carin - keyboards
Steve Winwood - organ
Guy Pratt - bass
Snowy White - guitar
Dick Parry - sax
Gary Wallis - percussion
Sam Brown, Claudia Fontaine, Durga McBroom - backing vocals

I have borrowed heavily from the Pulse lineup, but changed Tim Renwick with Snowy White (who has performed with Floyd on The Wall performances, and with Waters on his solo performances). Dick parry is an obvious choice due to his contributions do DSOTM. Jon Carin has played with both Gilmour and Waters (watch his performance of Dogs on Roger Waters' In the Flesh DVD). Carin's synth syle is awesome but I think an organist is needed too. Rather than a session musician who would try and reproduce Rick Wright's sound, I would go for somebody well known for his own style.

Can't see it happening, would end up being a 'greatest hits' tour which would just come across as a cash in, they'd have to record a new record, not exactly been a lot of material since Waters left, other than The Division Bell and Amused To Death it's slim pickings.

I saw them in 1994 at Earls Court, by far the best gig I've ever seen, I've seen Gilmour (with Wright) and Waters play separately which was wonderful but not quite as spectacular.

I'd certainly go if it happened if it was some kind of hybrid show where they included some Waters solo stuff (would love to hear Gilmour play 'What God Wants' for example) but I think it's too far gone now.

Just go see the Aussie one instead.

Not listened to anything of Waters since Radio kaos. Whilst I sort of liked it, not quite enthusiastic to the nth degree over it.

I saw Roger Waters " The Wall " in Sydney last week and it was a great show but a less than spectacular concert.

The sound was harsh and quite frankly Snowy White ain't Dave Gilmour it's just not in his fingers.

KAOS is OK but very 80's and dated now. Pros n Cons isn't bad but I was always a bit 'Meh' about it. Amused To Death is unbelievably fantastic though, almost like The Wall 2 has a very Floyd sound, the production is incredible.

I couldn't care less if it was a greatest hits tour or a Wall tour or whatever. If I got to see them on stage as a band I'd die a happy man. smile

This thread title sorely disappoints!
