Is anyone else watching this on BBC Four at the moment?

I've not listened to REM in years but this is fantastic stuff, I've never seen it before despite it being first shown in 1998 I think.

I managed to see them twice. The first time supporting Monster in 1995 at the Cardiff Arms Park and the second at the MEN Arena in Manchester in 1999. Both were fantastic, especially the Manchester gig.

I lost interest in them over the years, as did most people it seems.

Watched the REM at the BBC and the Jools programme lastnight, great stuff. A few laughs at them being introduced on TOTP as a great live band and them obvious miming Orange Crush (Michael Stipe had a megaphone hehe ) and the banter on Jools

"Please may I have some apple juice... anyone?... Cheap champagne will do!"

and pointing into the crowd "This woman needs to pee... Oh, what? Sorry I don't know where the bathroom is" hehe

Saw them in Hyde Park a few years ago. Note perfect for the entire set and before their final song Michael Stipe says "We're REM and this is what we do." Outstanding.

I actually saw them at the Hammersmith Appolo a few years ago, for the Accelerate album, absolutely brilliant it was as it was inside and not at some racecourse or football stadium. glad i got to see them.

I was lucky enough to see REM a number of times but it wasn’t until Twickenham on their last tour that I finally saw them play my all time favourite REM song.  We’d got through the whole main set and were well into the encore when my mate turned to me and remarked that it didn’t look like they were going to play it once again but then the very next song, Country Feedback, finally.  After that there were just two more songs and although I didn’t know it at the time that would be it.

That was a great concert. They even played "Perfect Circle".
