Buds or over-ear type ones?

open back, large 'phones - grado sr80's all the way.

on ear portable types, no idea. i just bought some akg qs460's and am disappointed. they are much better with an EQ on the ipod, but nowhere near worth the money imo.

Should of gone for the K 450's exactly the same as the Q460's with less mental colours. Marketing is a wonderful thing wink

i got the black ones with the green cable, nice colour combo imo. i am aware the ks450s are the same, but they were free [got a gift voucher from the place i bought my tv from and they didn't have anything else i wanted] so can't complain.

with the 10band EQ app for the ipod they are fairly good. on certain styles/bands they are great, but not even close to the detail and expansive airy sound of the grados. shame the latter leak so much sound else i'd wear them out of the house.

I have Grado SR60 and they are great sounding, a bit annoying for people around you as they are semi-open.
