About ten years ago, an outfit called Bentley Rhythm Ace released a tune. I liked it, and it had the line, "...and the beat goes on...." running through it.

Now, I always thought it was an original BRA tune but it seems I was wrong.

Radio 3 played a tune earlier, and I thought, "WFT is R3 doing playing a late 90's dance song on the early evening jazz programme?". It turns out the Bentley Rhythm Ace song was a doctored version of an original by Buddy Rich and his daughter, Cathy.

It is bloody great, and reeks of groovy:

May be of interest to some that BRA was actually Graham Crabb formerly of Pop Will Eat Itself.

Naah, it was two(ish) of the other members of PWEI. But Crabb has started PWEI up again and they're touring right about now.

And BRA did record the supurb Bentley's gonna sort you out....or something like that. I recall getting the album on the strength of that track only to discover it was full of lemons!

Bentley Rhythm Ace clearly didn't do the track the OP is thinking of.

From what I recall BRA includes half the old 'Pop will eat itself' line up and are signed to SKINT the same as Fatboy Slim. I picked up their self titled album for 20p in a Cash Generator the other day and if you like early Fatboy Slim you should like their work.

Bloody hell!

I'd never have thought that Buddy would have covered a Sonny & Cher tune. Learn something new and all that.

yes

Of the "old school" skin-bashers, for me he does just nick it from Gene Krupa.
