Likely Hit or probably st?

One of the songs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LWtb621DRg

I'm a big Met fan but I do fear that this hasn't been a good move for them.

Me too, or I certainly was before 'Stanger'. Their early stuff, up to the Black Album in the early nineties are all excellent. 'Binge and Purge' and 'S&M' are pretty good. 'Load' was the start of their descent into being corporate sell outs and everything from Stanger onwards is just atrocious. This is no different. Those cymbals constantly crashing in the background just remind me of bloody sleigh bells. Lars, what have you done?

Metallica used to be a good band but this album is shaping up to be a fretwk into Roger Waters 'Radio Kaos' style concept rubbish. Really? An album of 'musical narrative' based on the plays of Frank Wedekind? Jason Newstead did the right thing my stepping away whilst his musical credibility was still intact. Metallica are just a laughing stock now.

Let me caveat this by saying that the above is purely my opinion.

They are appearing on Jools Hollands show in a few weeks time. Not sure when (I read it a few months ago).

Have to admit .... although I'm a hardcore (early) Metallica fan up to the black album, and a Lou Reed fan too ... the 2 together? nahhh.

But I'll hold off deciding until I hear them smile

Just listened to the complete album online. I'll retract my statement. It's actually pretty decent, in fact, some of the riffs are outstanding.

So these days hardcore Metallica fans can like the black album. How things have changed!

Meanwhile, Mustaine seems to be having something of a second wind.

There's times where fusing two different styles together works really well. Metallica and Lou Reed was never going to be one of those times.

That Bill Bailey video however, genius biggrin

I'll always be a fan of Lou Reed's music, but he's never been much cop live. Tonight proved beyond any reasonable doubt that he should be calling it a day.

I wasnt impressed either. Just dont like the spoken word that Lou Reed does. How they can make it and think it works I have no idea. Wish they were putting their time and effort into a new album, not this rubbish. :-(

DoOh god, that is bad.

Bit chuffed though as Frank Wedekind, the playwright that inspired the concept, was my great great uncle.
