We've had a local band here in Guernsey called 'The Risk' for 20 years. They have had several albums out, including a Best of..... a few years ago.

Do they have a legal leg to stand on with the new X Factor boyband now named 'The Risk' too.

Yes. But don't expect them to actually win, Simon Cowell has deep pockets (I assume that's why he wears his trousers so high). Crucially, have they been active in the UK?

Yes, they have. It'll probably be down to their record company to deal with it though.

There is also a charity apparently called Rhythmix who are less than impressed with the X Factor group named the same, you know, the one with the girl in it who looks like the monster from the Goonies.

Didn't one of the XFactor/Idol/Popstar groups have to change it's name in the past because a group already existed with the same name?

I think it was Liberty -> Liberty X

There's also a band called "The Risk" already in Ayrshire who have asked the X-Factor to change the name of their band.
