Dinner party play list

OK, The wife has booked a dinner party for tomorrow evening, the main guest is celebrating a substantial birthday, Shes cool but the oh is a bit of a k***. Others are good too. We have a great mix of music but I dont like these occasions ruled by the cd player. I want good ideas of a mix for a play list, mainly 60`s 70`s type stuff, modern is also appreciated, any genre just good background sounds. Probably got most already but happy to download, just need some help please to put the list together. Single track or multiplay suggestions welcome

I cannot remember the website where you put in artists you like and it suggests/plays similar but one party I went to, the host asked guests as they arrived to give him 3 bands/artists that he added to the playlist. It's all fun and winning until someone suggests Slipknot, mind.

Something lounge-esque like Thunderball or Hi Fi Companions?

J Boogie, if you want something a bit more upbeat.

If you want a more latin groove, there's Gotan Project or the Nortec Collective.

All depends what kind of vibe you're going for, I suppose.
