More familiar with the Danzig stuff by way of Metallica covers than the originals, but love the two albums with Graves singing.

Ever listen to any of Danzigs solo stuff? Has some pure gems but theres a lot of ste too.

Or the later Misfits stuff with Jerry Only singing? It's different. They have had so many styles of music but it's all been rockin'.

Hetfield is my hero too. Oooooohhhhh yeaaaaaaahhhhhh!

Actually listening to some of Graves' solo stuff on YouTube at the moment, and it's pretty rocking. Does some nice acoustic covers of his Misfits stuff as well, which puts a different spin on them.

As for Danzig solo, again not listened to a great deal of it, but can't go far wrong with "Am I Demon".

yeah, The Misfits are kinda divided into pre and post danzig. For me, i feel like i should say i prefer the earlier danzig sung stuff which is basically just grotty horror punk, and that the later stuff sucks because it's kinda camp over the top glam horror punk, but i actually equally love both early and old stuff for just those reasons smile

Just downloaded some of the old classics thanks to this thread. She, Bullet, Attitude, We Are 138... brings it all back... age 16, somewhere in the late 80s, playing covers in a band with my mate Paul who could do Mr Danzig's voice to a 'Tonight Matthew I'm going to be' standard but - much to the chagrin of our little metalhead collective - insisted on wearing a shirt, tie and chinos whilst doing it. I seem to remember we did Hybrid Moments at the 6th Form Party. Sadly there were no such thing as emo girls in those days to appreciate our efforts, and we were roundly jeered at by the perm'n'highlight brigade who wanted to get back to dancing round their handbags to Rick Astley, back when he was a real pop star and not just an internet meme. Happy days.

Like a good little Metallica fan in the 80s I'd obeyed Lord Hetfield and bought as much Misfits stuff as I could get my hands on. Sadly, all of those rare vinyl imports and bootleg tapes have gradually disappeared in the mists of time along with all my old Samhain cassettes. Speaking of which, I really should download November Coming Fire from somewhere. The lowest of lo-fi, the blackest of black sound. Not heard it for years, but I remember it being somewhat difficult listening, interspersed with moments of accessible genius like To Walk the Night...

Can't forget Danzig's first two albums as well, which are still regulars on the playlist. Even after all these years I still think Lucifuge is a blindingly good album. Rick Rubin's epic production and Danzig's chillingly believable voice. So much win.

Like the Misfits but love Danzig much more. I know he has been accused of "selling out" but thats not true. The man has an incredible vocal range and really cuts amazing albums. Danzig II is one of my all time favorite albums. He also has an awesome comic line to boot.

Another vote for the Misfits.

Can't be arsed to post links, do your own searching. Highlights:

'Death Comes Ripping'

'Last Caress'

'Astrozombies'

'Twenty Eyes'

'Green Hell'

I could go on...

Does anyone like any later Glenn Danzig stuff?

The Samhain album 'November Coming fire' is great if you can ignore the production values.

The first three Danzig albums are top drawer, the fourth isn't bad. Then he kind of lost it.

FFS I had to do front of house sound for them once. One of the craziest nights in my entire sound engineering life.

Total superstars.

Can't claim any Misfits legitimacy at all, I am a metallica fan who bought a later album, but it was great. Love that creepy tone. There's 52 ways to murder anyone. (The era I know) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XobHupqgNu4
