Nice, don't see too many Doozy's about. The attention to detail on these guitars is insane. The shark tooth motif is on everything from the trem arm to the pick up covers. I akso love that mine came with a packet of plasters that say 'For when your fingers bleed'.

Whoever gets that role will firmly be in the shadow of James and Billy - but what a job!

Who would want to be in a band with Corgan?

No exactly known for his empathy and temperament, is he?

I might send in my CV. Give them a bit of a laugh.

He appears to have chilled out a lot in the past decade, wife and kids, and a much more relaxed style - some recent interviews with him are a great watch.

Also, he is a genius so I would happily put up with being his bh, and him re-recording my parts.

His signature reverend is next on my list in March.

Think he’s mellowed out a bit now, was an interview where he talked about realising how he’d been acting, possibly a J Rogan.

Used to do some pumpkins covers about 30 years ago, stuff off Siamese Dream. Was good fun to play but not the most challenging, can’t imagine they’ll struggle to find someone!

Siamese Dream.
The first CD I bought, that was, based on Guitar World's nomination of Cherub Rock's solo being best of the year. Anyway, that intro for Cherub Rock still rocks!

By heck, that transfuschia is amazing! (You swine, I want one now.)

Rather proud of myself, only bought one guitar this year.

That scratchplate will have to come off, have already bought a replacement, an Esquire type in mint green, which I shall cut to a nicer shape as it doesn't need to fit round a control plate. Also toying with the idea of fitting a humbucker so that I can replace the volume control with a pull/push switch for coil splitting. And a nicer knob is definitely required.

(That's what she said.)

Another one for the collection, a 2014 Ernie Ball Musicman JP7. Quire a hard one to photograph because the lighting in my music rooms fairly soft and warm in tone and natural light isn't great at this time of year either.

Something a bit different to the exotica this thread has a lot of.

I don’t really know why I bought this, but for £20 I thought I might as well. It’s a Pacifica 012, so it’s bottom of the range, and I think it dates back to 2008. After adjusting the truss rod and the bridge height it actually plays pretty nicel & sounds surprisingly good….the neck pickup has a fairly strat like spank to it and the humbucker has a fair bit of poke despite sounding a bit muddy. Apart from a couple of very small dings on the body it’s almost like new.

The machine heads are obviously complete turd, and the bridge is nasty because the saddle height adjustment screws sit proud of the saddle and scratch your hand when palm muting or if you brush them when strumming. I’m tempted to bung a few quid at it to rectify these nastier bits as a bit of a project and to teach myself a bit of setup and mod work. It’ll never be worth anything really, but I reckon I could probably get back whatever I put into it?

What would you do?

I'd definitely put the work into that Pacifica, it would become a nice guitar. Decent diecast tuners can be obtained quite cheaply (my last set was £20 on eBay), and fitting a neck shim would solve the problem with the bridge screws.

I bought one of these about 10 years ago for £25 - only problem was a non-functional bridge pickup, for which I obtained a replacement dirt cheap. A non-guitar playing mate saw it, said his daughter had expressed a desire to learn guitar, and took it off my hands - for £95! He bought my spare practice amp as well.

(Postscript: The daughter picked it up, tried it for a few minutes, decided it was too difficult, and discarded it. Her brother picked it up ... and hasn't put it down since.)

I would too. Pacificas are decent guitars full stop in my view, nothng wrong with giving one a fettle.

Absolutely refresh and enjoy the Pacifica… for all I have a couple of nice guitars (whose quality is directly and inversely proportional to any playing ability I will ever muster), I have unfinished business with a crimson Peavey Impact Dweezil Zappa sig/replica that lies gathering dust in the junk room after getting me hooked years ago.

Coming to a thread near here soon!

I’m doing it. Ordered some new hardware for the Pacifica. Tuners, a bridge and some slinkys….some of the height adjuster screws were rounded out on the bridhe , so for another £20 for a bridge I might as well. It’s a trem bridge, but I’ll just block it off.

Looking forward to fettling it!

Here’s the 80’s Peavey… I bought this from a junk shop in Kettering in the early 90s and ‘invested’ in a far too loud 10w Fender Bullet practice amp that just made the thing impossible to play at home for a a raw beginner. It was brutal.
However, a quick clean and tune (I will stick some new strings on it), and running it through a little THR modelling amp, and my jaw dropped a little at how much better it is than I remembered. I’ve even worked out how the wiring is configured now, which was a mystery to me years ago… boxedin
