now THAT is fking biblically heavy.love that 80's dm feel that permeates the album.i feel every album offers something different but i think around the fur is edging my favourite list

i think my fondness of around the fur in some part is due to the context of its release.i got it on the day of release as my band was doing some recording in lipa studio 1.i couldn't get over the staggeringly good, heavy(for that long ago particularly)production and the mindblowingly good songs.it was on heavy rotation for me right through the winter and still evokes those autumn/wintery feelings which happens to be my favourite time of year(i do have finnish blood in me!!)it instantly influenced the way i wrote songs, making me slow stuff down and give everything time to really develop.it made my recording sessions improve 10 fold and for the first time made me savour juicing every sound for all it was worth.

Can't decide if I like this or not. Has the dreaded "clean sound", but manages a satisfying heaviness with it. I'm conflicted!

IZAH
no .for me that is not clean it's cheap.it sounds like an 8 track demo from the 90's.the new 36 crazyfists album i heavy AND clean at the same time!whatever happened to taproot??? fking great band

For all you Deftones fans, here's a truly beautiful cover by a talented young artist Emma Gillespie. She has one of teh most stunning voices I've heard from a female artist in some time.

I understand she was a busker, and is about to be in the semi-final of a program on Sky 1 called Must Be The Music airing this Sunday:

That track could easily have been by Judas Priest. And they've been round since the 70's.

this track^^^is fking epic.another one man band!!

really like that pelican.never come across them before.that would usually be too lo-fi for me but it works.

listening to that jesu reminded me of 2 bands i had a short dalliance with years ago.my band were supposed to support a revelation band called "will haven".it never happened because they got to support korn on their second uk tour(i think?)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iqrmLpRDG0

another muzzy sounding band i shouldn't have liked but did was a band called "die 116".
i got into them because of a connection with orange 9mm

haha! bulb and his band periphery are fking increadible.my mate is a sound engineer and hates it because it is tweeked and sounds a bit synthetic.kind of like how vocals in pop music that have been recorded with autotune sound a little bit robotic.but for me,someone who has always adored nine inch nails, depeche mode and all sorts of synth/industrial music, that sheen to the sound adds to the effect.

skindred are st hot.got shark bites and dog fights on release but the best album for me was when they were still called dub war.
this is a police-esque track from wrong side of beautiful....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujiNiBGEZ2Q

i remember soulfly supporting korn(maybe deftones??) in manchester once and max cavalera brought out benji as a special guest and the academy just went fking apest
