I really got into them a few years ago but made the mistake of following them on social media and the excessive cryptic self-hyping really put me off, I caught up with their newer stuff last week and was kicking myself a bit for getting sucked in and turned-off by clever marketing rather that just focusing on the music.
I'd like to see them live but suspect I've done my usual and waited until they're successful enough to sell out the bigger venues I don't really like as much.
totally agree with this.... all the social media guff is nauseating.... "worship" and "ritual" etc... fk off lads.... i try to ignore all that bks and focus on the talent as much as possibleI'd like to see them live but suspect I've done my usual and waited until they're successful enough to sell out the bigger venues I don't really like as much.

Have you been down the "Blacklit Canopy" wormhole yet? It's a bit jingly jangly folk / indie in comparison but the basics are there.

I heard of the band Pigs x7 for the first time yesterday when they were briefly showcased on an afternoon Radio 1 show - not sure what to make of them?
Being from Newcastle myself I can't understand why I'd never heard of them - been going since 2012 according to Wiki
I'm not really a metal fan, more of a Blues Rock man, but detected hints of Sabbath and Motorhead in their stuff. Might check them out a bit further

I'm liking pigs pigs pigs pigs pigs pigs pigs!
How's about a slice of Aussie hard rock "Planet of the 8s" - sounds a bit like QOTSA with some Mastodon which is no bad thing.

A month or so late, but recounting 2022; I don't use Spotify but I think my most listened to artist would probably be Panzerfaust despite being a bit disappointing with their most recent release.
Continuing on the 2022 theme, I can't remember if I discovered them previously but my favourite release or 2022 has been Veilburner's album VLBNR, Relatively original nothing but nothing out-there; there's just something about it that makes me want to revisit. I don't overplay albums, but I'm finding it difficult to not remind myself of this one again. It's classed here as 'Dissonant Black/Death Metal' here but I'd say it's far more 'Death'. Despite that, this first track linked has some obvious shades of Inquisition and quite tame, the second is probably a better representation of the album.

I don't really listen to any new stuff anymore. I'm stuck in the era I grew up with. Currently listening to this. I just don't think it can be bettered! I could listen to this non stop and never get bored. Apologies for the drunken post, I've been listening to the mrs' music all night and needed to listen to some proper music! ..

The intro to Raining Blood is so iconic, especially when the drums really kick in for me.siovey said:

It's just the Thrash album for me. Unequalled. I love how the tracks almost 'coalesce into one' and wish there were more albums that did similar. Quite often used to listen to it on a Friday night before going out, I'm not sure my neck and shoulders could take it these days!

Agree, perfection. Not just fast stuff for the sake of it, the riffs are brilliant all the way through. Love Tom's vocals. Flows perfectly. Had to listen to it twice as its over too quickly!Quite often used to listen to it on a Friday night before going out, I'm not sure my neck and shoulders could take it these days!
Tried a bit of headbanging to it, regretting it this morning!
