CC is a fking genius, let me put it like this, if messi and Ronaldo had been making techno over the past 20 odd years or so, CC would have outscored them.

Dunno about you, that last one was hairs on the back of the neck material. Let me see if I can get into "jaw trying to fosbury flop eyebrows" territory.

Must admit Reg, it does sadden me a wee bit that Moving Shadow moved away from the bleep breaks into pure jungle, although you could see the direction with the Kaotic Chemistry LSD EP. I won't be posting any of that on here, well, with maybe a few overlaps wink as there's a very healthy DnB thread on here, and while I like a lot of DnB, I fking LOVE Techno.

As an aside, it does draw some parallels with R&S, I used to buy R&S on sight, no questions asked, up until Jacob's Optical Stairway and that's where R&S and I parted company. I always found it odd the direction they went, they were right direct centre of Detroit's 3rd wave, then chucked it away. I understand Renaat and Sabines relationship had disintegrated by then, which explains a lot.

I'm supposed to be on holiday right now. However, I've been bestowed a list of domestic chores as long as Boris Jonson's paternity list. Unfortunately whistle the weather has been a bit manky today, which has stymied my progress. I've then decided to take solace in a bottle of whiskey, and some old school techno. I've checked thread, thought you'd posted this previously, Reg? Perhaps not.

The Black Dog guys hosted and ran a great website and set of forums called "Little Detroit". It was an excellent resource for background guys like me to mingle and interact with some scenes "stars" (this sounds far more pompous than it actually was). Folk like Tony Surgeon, Orlando Voorn, Placid, Alan Oldham, you get the idea.

When it shut down, I grabbed some iconography for posterity.

Gone, but never forgotten.

Said it before on here (on other threads) I'll say it again: Orlando Voorn is utterly criminally underrated. All those trance s of the past 30 odd years should be sending Orlando Voorn a dowry for everything they have ever done has been through standing on his shoulders (see Format #1)

Apropos of nothing, think I may have a rip (of a tape) of a set I done circa '97, where I overlaid, twisted and wound a lot of primate/primevil releases over quazar's flight recorder album (karl hyde on vocals)

Fairly sure this featured heavily

Chuck this one in here before I forget, always knew this as "fk off clichéd wkers", discogs thinks differently, mixes great with green velvet - land of the lost.

In retrospect, I don't have a lot of fondness for that timeline, more than every other track was a direct rip of millsian and/or hood techno. The other artists ripped off to fk were the Advent...

Was going to post "critical" but fk it, as I said, not a great time for Techno, had to work hard to find gems. Which, funnily enough, were also available on Dave Angel's Rotation label. I vaguely know Vince (doubt he'd recall) as he stayed local to me, and this was before his dreadlock phase, and also his hardcore personas, before he met Dave Angel, I'd imagine. I'll not have anyone slag his hardcore, that teaches you a helluva lot about production, equiing, and kick placement, which I believe is still evident in his music today.

Now, understand this, Vince isn't a lazy pastiche aping greatness, there's tracks Vince has made that, quite frankly, Derrick May would be proud to have put out there.

And this one is good, and this one is not Vince's best!
