Awesome! One of my old flatmates knows "Yap" from One Minute Silence, another pretty heavy band biggrin

I've always bought every Deftones album and then go through it and learned the songs. I remember buying white pony and being a bit gutted about all the digital effects but I actually really like it now. The band pretty much evolved their style over the first three albums and revisit those styles in later albums. Adrenaline sounds nothing like White Pony for example.

No one mentioned Janus Stark either then? Great three piece with Giz Butt from Prodigy and The More I See. Nice track to play loud on guitar this.

White man speaking with fork tongue has a superb chord progression in the chorus.

or Nailbomb???? - Max Cavalera's old band.

Demanufacture was probably my fav of their albums but obsolete is a great album too
'Edgecrusher' is my fav track on there.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZZaQRUjWM8

but wtf happend after a few years remanufacture came out and with it some speed hardcore nutty drumloop crap thank god that new album sounds better.

The lead singer had so much energy barking his vocals - he used to scream so loud on stage I'm surprised he didn't dirty his trousers.

Alex Newport probably deserves a mention as well, if only so I can segue into a Fudge Tunnel video smile

or perhaps..

again, really heavy sound to me.a real weight to the sound and roll and groove.if it was faster it would lose the weighty impact i think
See, they do zilch for me as they sound sterile. Now, 1.43 into This is just cloud9

I'm not the biggest Fudge Tunnel fan, but you picked a song from my favourite album of theirs/his. I always used to like 'Spanish Fly' best though.

Hate Songs was really the only FT album I ever got into. I always liked their cover of Sunshine of Your Love.

Blimey. How low are those guitars tuned?! Don't think I've ever heard a nasty fuzz like it as well. A droning riff on guitars downtuned to hell is pretty heavy alright! smile

Damn right.

My dad saw them live a few times, when I said I own all the albums I mean I now share them with my dad. He's got plenty of great stuff from that era and we used to sit together playing music when I was a nipper, with him pretty much telling me what was worth listening to.

Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.

Electric Light Orchestra (their more experimental / instrumental stuff rather than the upbeat stuff like Mr Blue sky, which was also good, but not as great imo) Makes you realize how inept some bands are at stringing a song together these days when you listen to them alongside the likes of ELO.

No idea on tuning, as I'm not a guitarist, I just have a thing for that sort of riff. Favourite Electric Wizard track is probably This one. Never used to like doom, but really works for me these days. Already mentioned Ramesses upthread, but they can be equally satisfying.

ETA - top find! Coffinworm. I'm buying that in a heartbeat.
