Just tried listening to this as well and i am with you it is bloody awful.So bad in fact that i couldn't listen to more than a few seconds.

I've never heard that cover but it is at least better than the walrus honking original with the comedy repeated lyrics. The cranberries had some decent tunes but zombie was bad grunge lite

Sorry can't agree with this.Not only is Johnny Cash version better but i am pretty sure at least one member of nine inch nails agrees and is quoted as saying he now owns the song.

It's been a number of years since I listened to that, and agreed it's indulgent if I'm being gracious. I would imagine though that the studio floor would have looked like a winter wonderland at the time, everything being dusted with a light covering of "snow"
