Evening meal for a 40th Birthday. Turns out nobody has booked anything...sigh.

Nothing too elaborate or expensive as the others are not really foodies, i'd like to avoid overpriced tourist tat. Ideally I want to book as well the Mrs is Pregnant and won't want to wait just sit down and eat.

Not too bothered about style of food but quirky and fun rather than formal is better.

It's not quirky but Chez Gerard in the middle on top of the market isn't bad

Circus.

Or not that kind of quirky?

Wahaca would be perfect... although i'm not 100% sure you can book.

Wahaca - Don't think you can book although the website is really annoying so it's hard to tell.
Circus - probably a bit too quirky, I had looked at that one though.

Something like Gaucho would be ideal.

Wahaca + 1 too.

No, you can't book unless they've changed their policy since I was there last summer. You get given a (fairly accurate) estimate of waiting time, and a pager they'll buzz you on when table is ready so you can enjoy the bar. This may not be a good thing if Mrs is pregnant.
