Eating out for Valentines?

Just a quick straw poll to see what % of people either have or are going to eat out for Valentines? We were but an unfortunate change in baby sitting availability changed our plans.

No, not even bothering with a special dinner this time around, might pick up a nice bottle of plonk on the way home though. We don't really 'do' valentines day, although I better put some effort in so I can reap the rewards in a months time.

No - got the £20 deal from M&S instead. Eating out on Valentines is never a good idea. Inflated prices, limited menu and rushed or inattentive service.

+1 for m&s, Camembert tart followed by rib eye steak with homemade chips and garlic mushrooms, millionaires dessert for pud. yum!

Me too. Decided years ago that being squeezed into a restaurant only just big enough for 30 covers with another 60 couples is not my idea of fun and doesn't put either of us 'in the mood'.

Haven't done it since a hideous experience I'n one of our favourite restaurants a few years ago. Reduced menu with higher prices and our favourite dishes removed for the night so we walked out without ordering. I'm doing bruschetta, then fresh pasta with tomato and chili all washed down with a nice bottle of champagne which beats most restaurants valentines menu hands down.

Nope. Same reasons as above, it's all a bit of a factory, limited menu, inflated prices, can only have the table for so long. Just not a pleasurable experience in any way shape or form. Gave it a second chance last year, had all the above plus was charged for a bottle of champagne we never ordered, so sod that. Never ever going out on Valentines day ever again.

Snap! Just letting the steak go down before we start the millionaires dessert! The bottle of Rioja is going down very nicely as well.

We opened a bottle of wine we bought from a winery in Tunisia in March, very nice it was too!

Scallops, steak (just fried NO sauces! +chips and mushrooms) then the passion fruit desert, we did it on Saturday and all three courses were very good especially the pud which was the surprise of the night.

Much better than pratting about in over crowded resturants.
