Is 'foodyism' spreading?
Discussion
The short answer of course is yes, farmer's markets, the continued rise of cooking shows and chef celebrity etc. Although I'd heard there was always evidence in the background that this was superficial, and that ready-meal sales were increasing -and being eaten whilst people watched masterchef etc.
But early this week as I looked for alcohol in the house, I came upon some Damson vodka which my sister-in-law had made and given to us for Christmas. It was delicious. Really interesting balanced flavours. And later on in the week I opened another sidelined gift -a jar of home-grown and home-made Chipotle en Adobo (sort of a smokey Mexican equivalent of harrissa) from my normally-t
t brother-in-law. It is amazing. I'd pay good money for this stuff in the shops.
So two people who might usually, gastronomically, have M&S lasagne and Sun Valley Mini-kievs written all over them have produced stuff which wasn't just nice, it was great. And it was made from either homegrown or foraged ingredients where possible.
Anyone else seen some really good food from people who you wouldn't expect it from?

Yes but personal circumstances play a big part in my opinion. Most of my friends are not long out of uni and our career choices are not conducive to enjoying a well made evening meal. However I have recently changed to an office hours role (from 1-10 shift) and have fallen in love with cooking again now I have the time to savour it (as opposed to nuking an M&S Lasagne at half-time in whatever event I found myself trading)

That's me - 'chicken ding' as we microwavers say. You don't expect me to try cooking any of that stuff do you?Not at all, I'd happily eat Masterchef food if it was put in front of me... but I enjoy the programme and it makes me feel hungry so I have learned to time the 'ding' with the beginning
Cooking for one isn't exactly entertaining and I hate washing up so I don't do it much - but I can grill and boil/poach, and my saute potatos win acclaim on boating holidays!
