Occasionally, when my parents babysit my son, we meet up in Stockport town centre, as it's halfway between our respective houses. The two places where we've had our tea have been dire - some all you can eat Chinese place, and an american diner chain place that I won't name.

Does anyone have any ideas for a place that is child friendly, value for money, clean and provides tasty food?

christ, this is a challenge and a half! i'd suggest you try searching on one of the review sites such as sugarvine.co.uk.

there is a great nepalese place in levenshulme - new himalayas on stockport rd. say 10min drive? i'd be looking around sth manc - didsbury/heaton aren't too far and there's much more choice.

The kantipur on the A6 is superb for Nepalese, or for good pub food, the Arden Arms in the town centre (lunchtimes only)

Well as bad as Stockport is (i used to live there) i'd like to throw a spanner in the works here.

Try the Midway in Portwood.

It is as pubs go brilliant and light years from the usual all you can eat carvery slop you get.

When we had offices in Stockport we used the Siam Village on the A6, where the food and service were always good and the pricing was OK too. Typically we were there lunchtime, but on the few evenings we went it was fine as well - and always very busy. Not sure how they are with kids, but the folk who ran it were very helpful so maybe worth a call.
