It's only the 9th December but I am getting ready!

Ready for a break from work, fking student protests, snow, ice and rising fuel prices.

I need some good food and a st-load of drink to celebrate.

I will be eating:

A ham
A 3 bird roast ( Mind boggles )
27 roast potatoes ( on Christmas day alone )
Spouts
A 'posh' prawn cocktail
Some sausage rolls
The best home made stuffing imaginable
Substituting cranberry sauce for Sainsbury's Extra Special Plum Preserve ( do it, so much better )
Smoked salmon
Goose
Rollmop herrings
Pickled shallots
Scallops
Belly pork
Home made mince pies with brandy butter

I will be drinking:

A bit of red, but seem to have gone off it a bit of late
Some dark rum
A bottle of Champers
Some Benedictine
A little malt whisky
Calvados

Join me, won't you, in listing your indulgences for us to salivate and gain some inspiration!

Merry Christmas

Not sure.

It may well be sheep's eyes since I'm going trekking in (an allegedly) remote part of southern Morocco.

According to the blurb the 'nomadic Berber tribes which inhabit the region have little contact with the outside world'.

Yeah... right... You trying to tell me someone hasn't set up an internet café and Coca Cola machine?

It'll be the usual fare for us I should imagine.

We have however procured a bottle of Sloe Whisky which I'm rather looking forward to.

So far I have amassed the following:
1 x Tanqueray, 1 x Havana Club 3 Year Old Rum, 1 x Snow QUEEN Vodka and 1 x Naked Chase Vodka. The wine rack is already well stocked with red, white and champers.

The 3 bird roast is being sorted by the butcher on Saturday and the rest always falls into place during the week leading upto the big day.

Spit-braai of lamb and pork, boerewors and spicy muttonwors, washed down with a gallon or so of ice cold Hansa pilsener and some klipdrift and coke on the side. By a swimming pool, in 30 degrees, where it is sunny and not England.

Xmas eve will just be some cheese, bread and maybe home made pate (thats tomorrows job!) with a decent bottle or two from my reserve rack. Xmas AM is Champagne, smoked salmon and capers, olives (for the kids!) followed a 4 miles walk with the dog. Very traditional Xmas dinner, not sure if it will be beef or goose this year with a few wines then fall asleep with Somerset Cider Brandy <--- key to a good Xmas for me!

Oooh do let us know! My sloe vodka, Bacardi and gin are about ready, but whisky next year could be an option tongue out

Decided to change from bucks fizz for brekkie this year to kir royale. The other half has requested Beef Wellington for Christmas lunch, only with haggis replacing the mushroom pate. Will let you know....

Currently "inked-in" are:

Smoked Norwegian salmon from Lidl (honestly, it's bloody fantastic) for Christmas Eve
Lots of home-made cherry brandy (bottled in August)
Some sloe gin (still in DJ's but not far off being ready)
A three-bird roast

Everything else at the moment will be scavenged through visits to family and friends, with token offerings of homemade wine from us (but not the elderberry & blackberry, that's for personal consumption yes)
