Hi,

Got a chicken in the fridge a 5lb jobby which I usually do 20min / lb + 20min.

I want to cut it in half, put some nandos sauce on it and oven roast it.

What is the rule for cook time with half a chicken?

Ta,

sherman

Exactly the same rule - time per pound or kilo plus time again, so if it's a 2 1/2 lb (half a) chicken, 40 + 20 = 60 minutes. Always check the juices run clear; that's your best guide.

I rely on the plastic chicken "poppers". Not sure if they come as standard in the uk but they tell you when the chicken is done. 2 weeks ago we made the best chicken I have ever tasted and with out the popper it would have been a disaster. It did mean resting the chicken covered for 30 minutes but was warm and very juicy when served.
