Get yourself one of these yokes! My Italian housemates use them to make their coffee in the morning on the stove. Only takes a few minutes, must be easier than buggering around with a machine!
Lot cheaper too I imagine.

Got one of them little buggas already, great little machine, but im after something for a weekend that will make 6-10 cups in a pot.Lot cheaper too I imagine.

Bialetti do larger versions too : http://www.anothercoffee.co.uk/products/item109700...A ceramic filter cone like this will do the job perfectly. You just need to fill it to the top (using filter paper obviously) and keep topping it up with boiling water.
Until I was subverted to the dark side (Nespresso) I used this exclusively. It really does make the best tasting filter coffee.
Filter machines are to be avoided imho unless you can find one which doesn't have a permanent filter. The filter is nigh-on impossible to clean and I can always taste a 'stale note' in coffee made in this way. It's the same with cafetieres.
