I usually have a cooked breakfast so I don't get hungry till lunch. However I have been starting work a lot earlier recently so I can go home earlier so don't have time to cook breakfast. Anyway, I've been eating porridge (Oat So Simple) which does the job, however I really do not like the texture. So are there any cereals or quick breakfasts I can try which are relatively healthy.

Thanks.

Hmm, are you cooking it correctly? I eat Scotts/Quaker Oats every morning. Only a small portion, with milk, 1m20s in the microwave and it's perfect. Add a little honey if you're feeling sassy. Why not, who's looking?

Other than that, Oatibix are another healthy option.

Yes I'm sure I am, Oat so simple cooked as per instructions. a gloopy consistany?? I assume Oatibix will have a similar consistancy, i.e. like Weetabix.

Yeah, kind of gloopy I guess. Your spoon shouldn't stand up in it, but if you take a spoonful and pour it back into the bowl it should 'slop'. Wow, that's hard to describe!

Why not use real porridge?

You know you can cook it the night before and put it into some form of container for eating on the move.

If you practice not eating breakfast you will get over the hunger thing and get used to it.

Real porridge oats take about 5 minutes to cook. Including getting the pan out.

Or for more texture and flavour, get some steel cut oats (aka Irish oats), cook the night before with a pinch of salt and bring to the boil, then turn off and leave it.

Or for a healthy version of birchermeusli, soak half a cup of porridge oats and a handful of raisins in cold water for 5 minutes. Drain with a sieve. Mix with a couple of tablespoons of plain yoghurt and a grated apple.

You can 'cook' porridge in a wide-necked vacuum flask starting the night before.

Just preheat the flask with boiling water, add the usual quantity of oats and hot water/milk, shake and leave it overnight.

I'm not a fan of plain porridge, but I like it with some raisins and cinnamon added to the overnight mixture, plus 1/2 a grated apple stirred in just before eating.

real porridge every time. Oats so simple is for those too stupid to make porridge. Oversweet and gloopy.

I eat these with milk instead of porridge. Work well for me, no bloated feeling and they're yummy (to me)

Scott's old fashioned (this bit is important - yellow box) porage oats are the way to go - the normal ones (along with all the fake nonsense like oat so simple) is just mush with no proper oats left in it.

Sainsbury's taste the difference oats are pretty good too.

Pin-head oatmeal, soaked overnight and salt to taste, in the pan on top of a nightstore heater, then cooked for 15 minutes and a little proper milk. lick

Oats so simple etc = wallpaper paste.

Are you asking for a morning cereal? Or for a porridge style breakfast?

There is a ton of millet/quinoa/health food shop crap that substitutes for oats but to be honest they are crap and have very little taste (this is coming from someone who likes Ryvetta). You'd be better off cooking your porridge differently if you want a hot breakfast, if not go for museli - check out 'rude foods' they tend to do stuff without a lot of added crap and sugar.

Porride type breakfast or cereals, I'm not bothered. Will give cooking proper porridge a go and see if I like it.

Warm Frosties!! WTF.
