From a real proper fish 'nd chip shop

When did they become so mahoosive?

Just fed myself and two kids from a single (albeit) large portion.

And who on earth eats a whole large portion by themselves?

Another vote for yes here!

But only at a select few good chippies, most are crap.

Was it the fish or the chips, or both, that was large?

My local chippie has relatively small fish, but seems to try to make up with the entire Irish potato crop deep fried to go alongside. I've never even dared to ask for large chips.

Shoulda done a pic.

The fish was enormous. The chips merely large.

The quality & Amount vary so much round here - but the best serves the largest I've seen, quality is never lacking either. Chips usually match.

A fraction under £5 for large cod & chips now - I can just about plough through a portion.

My local chippy, run by a very nice Chinese family, is always busy, and in 5 years of going there, I've never had a bone in the fish, or anything other than fresh flaky haddock and marvellous chips.

I started eating my own portion when I was about that age. I still do, I thought everyone did that or maybe fish and chip portions are smaller where I live!

My local seems to have sensible Fish portions but even a small portion of chips is more than I can stomach. Maybe there is a correlation between size of fish and portion of chips? I always go for large fish, small chips. The fish is spot on but the chips are always overflowing.

Maybe if I went for small fish, I would get less chips? Problem is I don't want a small fish and don't feel any guilt binning excess chips.
