Hand and Flowers in Marlow. 1 star, excellent food, the Chef was on the Great British Menu this year.
Hindshead in Bray (hestons pub) - Great quality pub style food but with a heston twist.
Royal Oak (Paley Street) - Parkinsons place, not been but now with a star.
Cilantro and the Madejski - not been but heard good things.
My al la carte in Caversham, again on my list but not been.

Also, don't forget the Waterside in Bray. It hasn't had three Michelin stars for 25 years for nothing. It is also easier to get into than the Fat Duck (which is tremendous).
As previously mentioned, the Royal Oak in Paley Street is very good, one star and voted the best pub restaurant in the country.

Haven't been to L'Ortolan since Burton Race left, but it was nice then. Shame he's coming on a Monday.
You're going to find quite a few nice restaurants are closed on Mondays (Fat Duck and Waterside Inn also are) so you might have to go for a gastro pub anyway.
I went to the Royal Oak a couple of months ago. The food was very good and the atmosphere is nice there. We went on a Sunday and I suspect some of the staff on that day hadn't been there long as we had a couple of problems with service, but to their credit they held their hands up straight away, admitted it shouldn't have been that way and didn't charge us for the food. The result is that I'd be more than happy to go there again and recommend the place to anyone.
There's also The French Horn at Sonning and Mike Robinson's pub, The Pot Kiln near Yattendon which was very good on a visit we made last summer.

He's a Yank, he might love one of those olde englishe pub types, there's millions in that area. I adore the Bull at Sonning, but it's not exactly fine dining I suppose. Elephant in Pangbourne? Posh hotel but not Michelin quality.
Bull at Sonning does a higher quality of pub food then most. The beers and olde worlde feel are fantastic too.Lardydah said:

The Cottage Inn is pretty good, but I'd say it's not the same standard as somewhere like the Royal Oak. There is also the Inn at West End near Lightwater which is also very good.Just outside Bracknell on the way towards Windsor.
