Recommend a restaurant in Devon/Cornwall

Myself and the OH are off in a few weeks to Tavistock in Devon to stay at MiL's house whilst she's off globe trotting again.
We usually do a fair bit of touring around whilst we're there and just wondered if anyone could recommend a really nice restaurant for us to go to. I'm thinking something a little out of the ordinary and something that will totally knock you for six flavour/presentation wise and not just "oh this pub did a nice steak".
Any help much appreciated.

Burgh Island for an experience you won't forget in a hurry. Dinner on Wednesdays and Saturdays is black tie.

Agreed, has a superb lunch there, the ambiance is just superb.Yep, with you on Burgh Island and Rick Stein's - both very good and both are definately an experience. Another thought would be the restaurant in the Tresanton Hotel, very nice, especially on a sunny day/fine evening. And one more, The Sticky Prawn, in Flushing (opposite - a ferry ride - from Falmouth) assuming it's still there.

Back in the early 90's* it used to be a basic cafe by day and a phenomenal seafood place by night. Come 5pm tablecloths were out and house wine was put on the table. Inexpensive seafood, 4 of us shared a "Fruits de mer" for about £50* with free starters, wine and cheese!
Looks different now but might be worth stopping in for lunch (which is how we found it) and if it looks good go back for a very, very relaxed dinner.
Alternatively it could now be a cafe and shop!

If you wish to travel further you will do no better than Sunday Lunch at the Nare Hotel near Verryan or if travelling even further afield try Coombe House Country Hottel at Gittisham near Honiton.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, I will be giving them all a quick vetting via t'internet!

Open to all suggestions, although I should really add that the OH does not eat fish so anything that is purely seafood is out of the question but I will definitely be ordering some form of local fresh fish. Also the black tie thing is a little more formal than I'm really looking for especially as that would involve hiring a monkey suit for the OH!
