Just had a call from an old friend who has a table booked at ElBulli on Wednesday night and his guest has dropped out so I was next on the list!

Just booked tickets, very excited and will report back onb my return on Thursday.

I have heard many good things about ElBulli before but never really gone into much detail, having read a few things on the web I think we are in for a treat. Now just need to break teh news to the wife! Could be a long evening!

It'd be interesting to have a review afterwards with which to compare against Cactussed's Fat Duck post.

Oh, and you massive, massive git.

Have a cracking time.

You lucky devil!

Looking forward to a full review, one of my dreams to dine there, you got in before it closed down for the "rethink" too.

Take photos (lots!). I have family 20-30 miles from El Bulli and visit the area a lot but still haven't managed to get a table in quite a few years. Know a few people who have eaten there albeit a few years back and they still go on about it.

I've wondered about this. Isn't taking photos of your meal vulgarity of the highest order? Certainly it would mean you're not paying enough attention to the experience.

From what I've been told half the people there are taking photos (discretely)

UPDATE!

Bloody closure of the French airspace meant we could not get there as Easyjet cancelled flights and we could not get ticktes withanyone else! I cannot tell you deflated I feel..........so close and yet so far!

A truely horrible day.

Argh, as if there weren't enough reasons to dislike the French frown

I cannot imagine how gutted you must feel. Or how much you must hate the French right now!

Could you not have driven? Or were your flights a bit too tight to the meal time?

How utterly gutting frown

Argh,,,very sorry to hear that. I have never been there, and probably have a better chance of winning the lottery.

Thought about driving but it would have been impossible to get there in time sadly.

We were so disappointed that we decided to jump on Eurostar to Paris for a feed........and low and behold turned up and every seat was sold. So eneded drowning our sorrows at the Champagne bar!
