Good Haggis?

After getting a taste for Haggis while in Scotland, I want to get some in for Mrs5678 to cook me.
Any suggestions on where to order some from? I'm assuming that supermarkets will be of no use, hence having to mail order.

As a Scottish person, McSweens Haggis is the best of the best.

However, you can get McSweens Haggis in a roll like black pudding.

Excellent with Lorne sauasge and HP sauce on a white morning roll.

We brought some back from Edinburgh with us last month and have been cooking that with some carrot and sweede mash.

Yup, has to be MacSweens every time. When I was in London they used to sell it in most of the butcher's around Crouch End. Youc an get it pretty much everywhere in Edinburgh though. My local corner shop has it, as does the delie down the road, pretty much every supermarket. Good stuff.

MacSweens used to have a great shop in Edinburgh but it has closed for whatever reason. I suppose they are concentrating on the wholesale market.

Avoid Halls and Grants if you can though. They are bearable but not a patch on the good stuff

Try stuffing it in a chicken before roasting, lovely!

believe it or not Grants tinned haggis is very nice. I always keep a tin handy, its nice with a steak or on a roll.

Sorry to pish on anyone's neeps folks but McSweens haggis really isn't the best. It's the best available down south but it's left for dead by a proper butcher's haggis.

Personal opinion I suppose. MacSweens is a proper butchers and makes very good haggis. By comparison, my local butcher in Edinburgh has won awards for his haggis and I think its awful.

Very true..also had some 'prize' winners that gave me the heave.

If you ever head west then try Patrick's of Camelon (near Falkirk).....stunningly good. IMO of course.

I used to organise the transport for macsween's when I was young, Jo Macsween gave me a tour of the factory at Loanhead - cleanest food factory I'd ever been in!
I love Macsween's for off the shelf/supermarket option, but have to agree that you can't beat most proper village/town Butchers
