what's in your freezer?
Discussion
I was at my parents' house earlier and had chance to look in their freezer. I remember it being packed when I lived there but the sheer amount of food was ridiculous for 2 people imo. theirs is over 2m tall and 1m wide and each shelf was crammed with meat, veg, ready made food, cakes etc. (mum does cake decorating).
in comparison, I rarely make a meal with anything other than fresh ingredients, despise frozen veg/ready meals and usually eat leftovers before they've had time to go off. I can also make a soup quicker than it would take to defrost one. consequently my freezer contains 2 bags of ice and 1 emergency dr oetker pizza.
what's the ph norm? am i missing something as I reckon I could (and have in the past) be happy with a large fridge & small ice box.

opportunistic use of reduced meat
Ditto. It's packed with meat we find on offer. That's pretty much it. Sometimes you'll find a bottle of booze in there, too. Besides that, you'll frequently see ice cream, a few bottles of panic-cooling Pacifico, and those frozen blocks you throw in your lunch bag..Sometimes (BBQ) we freeze leftovers. Normally because when I BBQ, it's enough for anywhere from 8-40 servings. It freezes remarkably well, provided you do it properly.
I have lots of cuts of pig, the one that I bought from Mr Benson, some venison that I bought when it was on offer, frozen peas, two whole chickens (never buy trays of breast as it is extortionate) and some iced lollies that we don't eat.
There has also been a bottle of Finlandia in there for a few months and a pack of mince.
It's a little sad that I know so much about the contents of my deep freeze without opening the door.
Some food just freezes very well.

Frozen peas and beans, obviously. The only way to buy those.
I use the freezer to keep Game that I can only buy in winter year round. I still have a couple of pheasants and a pack of four partridge in there.
If there are good meat offers on (BOGOFs) I'll freeze the spare one so I often have a pack of chicken, mince, burgers, sausages and so on around.
Then on days when I just cannot be arsed shopping I'll hit the freezer for supper.

Sausage skins
Zanzibar chicken
Coconut Chicken
curry - 5-6 different kinds
bolognese sauce - 15 portions
Ice Cream
Pepperoni
Chorizo
BBQ Sausages
Pork fat for Sesame Prawn Toast
Peas, Beans & Sweetcorn.
Most stuff is cooked by SWMBO during the week from fresh ingredients so don't have a big freezer

Masses of ice-cubed baby food.
Mine too. We've got 4 drawers full of it. The Mrs will have days where she makes enough mushed up crap to feed 3000 babies. I then come home to find the bottles of Vodoka and Gout on the side.Edited by escargot on Friday 9th April 10:45
Mine is packed. I often cook a big batch of something and freeze individual portions so I have the following
chilli
goulash
curry
soup
Peas
sweetcorn
Burgers
cauliflower
brocolli
pizza.
Sausages
bacon.
Ice cream
Its difficult sometimes buying food in the correct quantities. i.e. burgers come in packs of 4, 8 etc burger buns come in packs of 6. So I tend to buy big packs of things and just take out what I need. It also means im not shopping every 5 mins
