This is pretty graphic but looks simple and effective.

pour a kettle of boiling water over each and pluck away

cut around the bum and the neck taking the head off, stick two fingers up its bum and pull the entrails out straight into a bag

chop off feet, burn off any feathers left on the bird and wash it under a cold tap

job done - 15 mins each bird tops

Unless you are planing on roasting the pheasant just take the breasts off the bird and dont bother with all the plucking.

I just skin them and be done with it, far less faff. If you want to roast the birds i guess plucking is the only option, but for jointing and lobbing in the slow cooker skinning is easier.

Thankyou Gents.
I think sherman's clip from the Shooting times is going to be the easiest
(Since it shows me how smile).

I'm about to pluck a hen today and I usually take a couple of leisurely hours at it. Do it ouside as the feathers get everywhere. Someimes I just skin them and use the breast only, but if you want to roast the bird and want it in pristine condition...
Lay the bird on it's back and pull ( one at a time) it's breast feathers in the opposite direction to which they would normally grow. Then do it's legs, by this time you're probably thinking it's too much effort, so just cut off the tail and wings with a sharp pair of scissors - use a butcher's knife to cut head and feet off. Remove guts and wash your bird to remove any lurking bits...then stick in oven breat down with chopped apple pieces in it's cavities at 190 deg C for approx 40 mins smile
