Security seals on food packaging

When did security seals on milk containers become commonplace, and tamperproof lids on jam jars?

And what kind of world do we live in that requires this sort of protection?

But yea anyway it probably is to stop even normal people tampering with food/drink.

Or more likely to stop people 'trying before they buy'. When I was a nipper I remember hearing about mentals messing with baby food a lot though.

The flip side is, when out on the lash folk'll happily drink straight from a bottle that anything could have pi$$ed on in storage.

I saw a programme about the muders in the USA and how because of these they introduced tamper proof seals.
