At some point this year all the supermarkets have started selling wine in 187 ml bottles instead of 250 ml bottles but not dropping the price. A few off-licenses still do the larger size but that's it.

OK I know I should just buy standard large 750ml bottles, but half to 3/4 of a bottle does me fine and I hate waste.

edited to add - the title should read "wine ripoff"

there is a general consensus in the trade that 500ml will eventually become common place.

I noted one brand in my local Tesco Express offering it.

Regarding the downsize but no price decrease, it has happened for years. Alcopops always used to be 330ml and then downsized to 275ml without a corresponding price decrease. The packaging looked similar, you can blame us for that. It is all about price points ...

187ml of wine? How deliciously bizarre.
