Thanks for posting this. I've been away from the UK for many years but this answers a long-standing confusion I've had. When in Sheffield and being a kebab lover I'd go to various places (or rather stagger past various places and stop at some). There was one place that did the most unbelievable kebabs - for years I've tried to describe them to folk but to no avail.

And now I think I know. They must be the Lamb Schawarma variety. Thanks!

no problem, the schwarma ones are very nice when you can find them, and are made from proper meat rather than slurry like the donner variety!!!

Does anyone know what exactly is in a donner or how they make it, I've heard various stories but I'm curious to know the real ingredients and process.

As for kebab shop recommendations, if in Glasgow try 'Best Kebab' near Queen St train station, a turkish bloke I used to work with recommended their chicken sarbeni as being very authentic and tasty.

The guy in the picture on the first page on the site looks like he has come straight out of the Ritz in London . Boy has the Kebab changed its image over the years......

Just Halal Kebabs, near the Cop Shop ? They were amazing, really dark, thick, meaty meat.

There are obviously loads of different mixes, but it ranges from anything from the fatty joints of lamb, the not so nice bits and parts, to even containing chicken, mixed in with strong spices.

Possibly, though my vague memory places it half way along Division St,like half way between the centre and the Frog & Parrot. I may well be wrong though.
