I was listening to Canadian radio today about the promotion to premier league, and this statement was made. Apparently comes from being stationed in France in WW1...

Is this some kind of myth?...Am I terminally ignorant about the culture of Burnley?.. or are there little Peugeot vans delivering the weekly Benedictine shipments to the town?.........(the statement is per capita, evidently.)

My housemate from university, who hailed from Burnley, once persuaded me to try a shot of Benedictine in a bar once. So on this scientific evidence, it must be true.

Perhaps Singapore slings are particularly popular there. Or perhaps not.
