Has anyone seen any Gold Label barley wine recently? as I need some for the Christmas pudding recipe I use. I don't think pubs even sell it now.

We got some last Christmas from Sainsburys. So it was still about then...

Not sure if there are any Banks pubs in your area, but they still serve Barley Gold in 180ml "nip" bottles. Failing that, see if your local independant off licence sells Marstons Owd Rodger. Not a barley wine, but still dark and potent at 7.6 volts.

No I am not sure about Banks pubs our way but I remember those "nip" bottles - equivilent to a treble whisky. That Marstons would indeed go well with the stout and rum in the recipe I am sure.Thanks.

They sell it in my local co-op.
Failing that you could always peel a can out of the hand of a nearby tramp.

No, not too early to make them. In fact they are better when kept for a year. The one I made between Christmas and New Year has already gone to a new home so need to do some more.
