If you want to go really large - cinnamon club rules
mid price - Mela absolutely rocks www.melarestaurant.co.uk
lower end - www.chowki.com - ridiculously good value...

Masala Zone!

Only ever been to the one near Soho, but it's fab.

It's a relative of Chutney Mary as someone's already posted.

Went to Masala Zone years ago and have got to say it was absolutely crap. If you want bland ingredients in a nice setting then it's great. If you want anything approaching decent indian food then steer well clear.

We generally tend to avoid the pricier indian places as it is usually style over substance. Same in places like Bombay, the food in the restaurants in hotels like the Taj, Oberoi etc never seems as tasty as the restaurant the locals use.

Having said that, Benares seems well regarded, I've had some of the bar snacks and they are very tasty.

For poncy Indian Benares is the best...only thing I dont like is the fact that its on the first floor overlooking the beautiful Berkley Square yet it doesnt have any windows..!!

Food is fantastic though.
